How is our marriage license and paperwork taken care of?

Steven handles all marriage paperwork, so you don’t have to! The DC Courthouse process can be tedious, and we want you to have the best time ever in DC, not to stand in line!

What kind of wedding officiant is Steven?

Steven is recognized by the Humanist Society as a civil celebrant, a non-religious wedding officiant who can legally perform weddings in Washington, DC.

Will our photos be used online? Can we request that our photos stay private?

We blog every wedding that we are a part of, and our weddings are frequently featured in publications like Capitol Romance, the Washington Post, NPR, and others. We always share wedding photos because we love them so much!

Can we submit our wedding photos to publications?

Absolutely! Let us know where you’re submitting and when it’s published!

Can we get married on another date that is not listed on your site?

Yes! With the weekday wedding option you can pretty much choose your own date (as long as Rachel and Steven are available), and you’re also welcome to suggest a weekend date if you have one in mind — weekends are less flexible but we’ll always try our best!

Can we choose a different location than the one listed for our date?

Most of the time, yes! We love to try out new and fun locations all over the city. The only place we don’t enjoy photographing is the monuments; DC is so much more than that!

How many guests can we have attend our elopement wedding?

You are welcome to have a few guests at your ceremony—please let us know if you plan to have guests. However, the portrait session will only include the two of you! We do not offer posed family portraits (other than a quick photo of the whole group together).

Also, keep in mind that many of the locations we have chosen may not know what to think about weddings happening on their property. If it’s just the four of us, it’s usually not a problem (a lot of what places object to is the guests, aisle runners, noise, etc.). However, if more guests are in attendance, we are more likely to get asked to leave.

Do we need a permit/will we get kicked out?

At some of the locations, getting kicked out is a possibility. We’ve found security to be tight around the Mall and Smithsonian buildings, so we avoid those areas.

With such a small group, we have the advantage of being able to perform ceremonies at all sorts of awesome locations! We will not have weddings at places that specifically prohibit them, however at some locations we just can’t be sure. We love offering crazy fun spots to be married in, and we have backup locations at the ready—all are awesome. If you have questions about a specific location, drop us a line and we’ll chat!

Can our package include more than an hour of photography?

At this time, no. This package is specifically meant for ceremony photography and a portrait session—we do not offer event-type wedding photography.
